Service

Listed below is a sample of recent service and outreach. For more information on my service activities, please view my CV.

Since August 2023, I have been part of the executive board for WPI chapter of the Association for Women in Mathematics (AWM). I served as PR Chair from August 2023 to August 2024 and have served as President of the chapter since August 2024. Learn more about the chapter’s activities here.

I volunteer annually for WPI’s Sonia Kovalevsky Day, which is organized through the AWM student chapter each spring.

I contribute to AWM at-large through the EvenQuads Deck 3 project, collecting biographical data and writing short biographies for over a dozen women mathematicians; and as a judge for the annual AWM/Math for America Essay Contest.

In the September/October 2025 issue of the AWM Newsletter, I contributed an essay titled “Why You Should Attend Department Seminars as a Student (Even If You Have No Idea What They Are Talking About)” to the Student Column.

Girls Talk Math is a free two-week day camp geared towards girls and non-binary 9th-12th grade students interested in exploring mathematics and media beyond the high school curriculum.

From May 2023 to July 2023, I served as Curriculum Coordinator for the camp run at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. In this role, I worked alongside co-founder Professor Francesca Bernardi to select, edit, and finalize the problem sets used for the 2023 WPI cohort.

Additionally, as part of the 2023 and 2024 programs, I presented short lectures on the SIR model in mathematical epidemiology to complement the topics of the problem sets.

Massachusetts STEM Week is an annual statewide event that takes place on the third week of October, organized by the Executive Office of Education and the STEM Advisory Council in partnership with the state’s Nine Regional STEM Networks. STEM Week is a statewide effort to boost the interest, awareness and ability of all students to see themselves in STEM opportunities.

For Mass STEM Week 2025, I led the conceptualization and organization of a mathematical biology-inspired DNA activity for Family STEM Night at the Boys & Girls Club of Worcester, an annual, free event for children, youth, families and the community to learn and explore the wonder of STEM in daily life and careers through fun hands-on activities, exhibits and demonstrations presented by colleges, organizations and businesses. This activity was a collaboration between the Association for Women in Mathematics student chapter and Bioinformatics and Computational Biology Club at WPI.

The WPI Women in STEM conference is an intergenerational event meant to inspire the next generation of students in STEM to be scientists, mathematicians, and engineers who are eager to solve the problems in our communities and the world, while educating their adult champion about STEM and how to support their student on their STEM journey.

In spring 2025, I worked on a small team led by Dr. Sarah Wodin-Schwartz (Mechanical & Materials Engineering) on an activity that invited students to explore questions in rehabilitative engineering.
